Hotels, Casino’s, Lodges and Resorts all share one thing in common: they are committed to providing the best possible experience to their guests.
Increasingly, the hospitality industry is seeing customers and their dollars gravitating towards environmentally conscientious establishments – facilities that blend superior service and amenities with an environmentally conscientious approach to operating and sustaining their unique destinations. While the island resort is perhaps the most obvious example of a destination experience that must protect and sustain it’s environmental surroundings, even urban hotels have seen the value of marketing their eco-friendly successes.
Springboard Biodiesel’s line of patented, small-scale, automated biodiesel productions systems provide the hospitality industry with another important sustainability tool for their overall operating portfolio. Importantly not only does biodiesel provide a dramatically lower environmental impact than the diesel it replaces, if that biodiesel is made on site in a Springboard Biodiesel processor, the property owner will actually save enough money, due to the all-in cost of production, to pay for the unit in 12-18 months. Environmental marketing that prints money!
How does it work? The key economic driver is the availability of free feedstock. Hotels, resorts, casinos, et al provide food to their guests. As a result all of these institutions have “captive kitchens” that regularly produce used vegetable oil. Many island resorts actually have to pay to have that used vegetable oil transported back to the mainland, and most hospitality venues do not view their waste vegetable oil as a potential revenue stream!
Using Springboard Biodiesel,LLC.’s BioPro™ processors, a hospitality site can easily produce ASTM-grade (good enough that the government will let you sell it) biodiesel fuel from it’s used vegetable oil for less than $1.00 per gallon. Because the units are fully automated, the actual labor involved with producing each batch is approximately 30 minutes.
If you use the BioPro™ 380 at 50% of its capacity (our 100 gallon unit), you’ll be able to produce 9,000 gallons of biodiesel fuel annually. This will replace 9000 gallons of dirty diesel fuel, saving you $18,000 dollars and reducing your institutions carbon footprint by 171,000 lbs!
